Also have been working on getting our swimming pool installed and coming up with some plans for a deck. The pool is an above ground pool, 24 feet across, eight foot deep.

The tree next to the pool is coming down asap, and I gotta get the dirt moved and get the deck built.

I quickly grabbed a Nikon Camera (s230) with video capture capabilities and started to record. You just never know what might happen.

I then later edited it a little bit in Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and made it a little funnier.

He stayed with me in the backyard and watched me work all day today.

JACK THE DACHSHUND

Jack is now a little over 3 months old and he loves hiding his pigskin chewtoys. I dont understand why he does it. He doesnt want to hide any of his toys or other things just those pigskin chews that I give him every now and then.

I saw him today take his little pigskin and take it to this area of the living room thats by the couch and in between the couch and end table he likes to pretend to bury it. He actually tries to dig for a bit, place the pigskin in an imaginary hole, then proceed to nose the imaginary dirt over the hole.

This is pure instinct on his part. Isn’t that just amazing. Its in his DNA to do those things.

He has two of those skins that I let him play with and he hides each one. If I find one, he will relocate it for later. Today he tried to place one behind the bedroom door and he goes back often to check on it. Its really funny.

Yesterday he ran off and I ended up at the neighbors home and they have a cat named Tinkerbell. This was Jacks second encounter with Tinkerbell and I have some video of it. Its kinda cute.

DEE EL THE NAWLINS DOG

He recently got a new collar with some *BLING*

Other than that he has just been acting cool as always. He loves to ride and I take him to town most of the time with me. He recently started doing this thing in the car thats pretty cool. He will brace himself in the turns. Yes he really does. He will sometimes put his hands on the middle console in between the bucket seats and he will have his back legs on the back seat. Usually he stays proped up against the passenger seat and if I turn  to my left, he is fine, he just leans on the passenger seat. If I turn to my right, he braces hims self with his left hand on the driver seat. Its really cute. I will have to get some video or pictures of this soon.

LOUIE

Louies eye healed up nicely. He has been away from home for a bit chasing a lil female pup, but he is back home for now just chillin.

I do however have some pictures of him that I dug up of when he was 6 weeks old.

Well he is growing like a weed but still small which is great. He is up to 6.2 lbs now, up 4lbs since we got him.

I have not taken too many more pics of him, but I will get on that soon. I still have video I need to publish when he was a lot smaller and I also need to get on that soon.

He has been a little awnry about going to potty in the house. I think it has a lot to do with the rains from Hurricane Fay that we are getting. He doesn’t like rain and wet yards so we are having a tough time with that.

I have heard that Dachshunds are notoriously hard to house break, but he is really not that bad. He just has spells and we will work through them eventually.

He is currently getting longer, and is deveolping a change in hair color. He is still brown and some black, but now with some gray sprinkles on his head and lower sides. I will get pics of that later.

He now sleeps with us every night.

He has also learned how to fetch really well and will pretty much come the the command COME.

We are working on the sit command but dont want to rush too many things.

He has also become about 85% housebroken too.

She had one for many years before, her name was Ginger and lived with my wife for nine years until her untimely death. She was a victim of the highway.
That was about a year and a half ago and we still miss her.

We had toyed with the idea of getting a new pup, but we already had two others that were outside dogs and just bought a new living room suit and I just couldn’t bare the thought of chewed up coffee table corners or torn couch cushions, but the whole time I was in Vegas with my wife I was thinking about getting her this puppy. I mean I love her to death and she is worth all the torn couch cushions anyone can possibly make.

I thought about this for weeks. Then one Saturday we were all traveling to have dinner with my Aunt and we saw a sign that had miniature dachshunds for sale. I was hoping she wouldn’t see it as I knew she would say something about it and I didn’t want to just go ahead and get one that day. I already had it in my mind that I would get one for our anniversary.

The very next day we were leaving for the Mississippi Gulf Coast and and I wouldnt be able to get a pup till Thursday. My Anniversary was on a Friday so I had one day to scramble and get this puppy.

When Thursday came I got up and hit the ground running. Dee El loaded up and he spent the entire day with me riding all over crossing three maybe four counties visiting different breeders to find the right color pup.

I wanted to find one before my wife got home and luckily I got him just before she did.

I will spare you the details of actually getting him, that part was rather simple, saw him, loved him, bought him, we drove home in the pouring rain, Dee El was still with me being the best pet co-pilot anyone could ask for (if only he could talk) and when we got home Jack was beat.

I put him in a little Tupperware square tub with a towel in the bottom and had him sleeping on the other side of the coffee table where you couldn’t see him when you entered the room.

I was starving and hadn’t eaten all day, so I quickly made me a small meal and sat down and popped on the tv and began to relax.

Wifey arrives home and she comes in and first thing she says is “what are you doing eating!” I didn’t understand at first, all I knew was I was starving and had not eaten all day and it was a good time to be eating, it was 5:00pm, but what I had forgotten was that I was supposed to go to a birthday dinner party and she was thinking why am I eating when I am about to go eat.

As she was getting on to me about eating, she was rounding the corner of the coffee table to come sit on the couch with me and she sees this puppy in a plastic tub sitting on a pink towel and she has this look on her face like, “is that a puppy?” “is it real?” “is this for me?” “what the hell?” all of this came as an expression over her face in mere seconds. Wish I had video, but needless to say she fell in love and I was quickly kicked to the back burner, no just kidding but she loved Jack, and who wouldnt he is so freaking addorable.

I love him like I never thought I would, and I was dead set against having a dog in the house.
