JACK THE DACHSHUND

Jack is now a little over 3 months old and he loves hiding his pigskin chewtoys. I dont understand why he does it. He doesnt want to hide any of his toys or other things just those pigskin chews that I give him every now and then.

I saw him today take his little pigskin and take it to this area of the living room thats by the couch and in between the couch and end table he likes to pretend to bury it. He actually tries to dig for a bit, place the pigskin in an imaginary hole, then proceed to nose the imaginary dirt over the hole.

This is pure instinct on his part. Isn’t that just amazing. Its in his DNA to do those things.

He has two of those skins that I let him play with and he hides each one. If I find one, he will relocate it for later. Today he tried to place one behind the bedroom door and he goes back often to check on it. Its really funny.

Yesterday he ran off and I ended up at the neighbors home and they have a cat named Tinkerbell. This was Jacks second encounter with Tinkerbell and I have some video of it. Its kinda cute.

DEE EL THE NAWLINS DOG

He recently got a new collar with some *BLING*

Other than that he has just been acting cool as always. He loves to ride and I take him to town most of the time with me. He recently started doing this thing in the car thats pretty cool. He will brace himself in the turns. Yes he really does. He will sometimes put his hands on the middle console in between the bucket seats and he will have his back legs on the back seat. Usually he stays proped up against the passenger seat and if I turn  to my left, he is fine, he just leans on the passenger seat. If I turn to my right, he braces hims self with his left hand on the driver seat. Its really cute. I will have to get some video or pictures of this soon.

LOUIE

Louies eye healed up nicely. He has been away from home for a bit chasing a lil female pup, but he is back home for now just chillin.

I do however have some pictures of him that I dug up of when he was 6 weeks old.

I was getting worried about him Tuesday and went riding on my around the block looking for him and could not find him anywhere. I was fearing that I might find him laid up in a ditch somewhere or found victim of the highway, but I didn’t thank goodness.

Wednesday, I fired up the four-wheeler and went riding to look for him, and this time I wanted to ride through the fields nearby and see if maybe he was hurt or injured or even dead somewhere. If he was I would be sad, but at least I would know, you know what I mean?

While on the four-wheeler I was able to go places that I couldn’t in the truck and I managed to find him!

He was at a ladies house who had a some big dog, I forget what kind it was, but she was in heat and had Louie crazy! The lady said she tried to run him off several times and that she didnt see a tag on him. Well he has a tag, but Im sure he wouldnt let anyone close.

He came right to me as if he missed me greatly, and wanted to hop in my lap as I sat on the four-wheeler and thats not like him, because he hates the four-wheeler.

I grabbed him and eased home. He didn’t really like the ride home, but once we were home I put him on a long runner cable near his dog house.

He has been howling wanting to get back over there to his girlfriend. He will get over it soon.

I need him to be safe at home, and I still have medicine to give him every 12 hours for his eye, so girlfriends will have to wait.

I finally got him to come to me long enough to snap the picture below but after that he was back rambling and Justin and I later found him squabling with something in the field behind our house.

He might have been messing with a Armidillo or something, thats my best guess.

There was another dog in the field with him and he didnt seem to have a problem with him.
We hopped over the fence to see what it was Louie was fighting with,  but by the time we got over, he and the thing were gone.

I have not seen him since. Hopefully he will be home later for me to give him his meds the vet gave me.

All patched up!

I will write a seperate article about DL later on, but for now I will focus this articles attention on Louie, because he was recently injured.

Louie is about around four years old now. My wife got him for my stepson as a Valentines day gift in 2004 I  believe. He was not exactly a rescue pet, but you could say he was if you had seen the living conditions where she picked him up from. He was advertised as a free puppy, but I beleive where he came from, the people there were of need of a little help and she paid a small sum for him. She did so gladly just to relieve him of the living situation he was in. I will spare you the details.

Louie is a very loyal and loving dog. I never took the time to train him in any way so he has no real special talents, but he is a great dog that has plenty of affection and he is a joy to watch running through the yard chasing balls or squirrels.

He has been in many fights with our other dog DL. I mean some really bad ones, but they never have hurt each other seriously bad. Why do they fight? Well its just territorial really I think, both are males, and DL just showed up here a year and a half ago and they just never get along when people are around. They both crave attention.

Yesterday morning I went outside with Jack to let him do his business and Louie came up bleeding bad, really bad. DL was right there and they didnt seem to want to get into it, so I assumed that Louie had been injured by another dog or even possibly an Armidillo.

He has been know to mess with them alot.

Anyways his eyelid was gashed open really bad and I had to take him to the vet to get stitched up and he stayed overnight.

I will be going to get him later on today and will post back
